NOTES: 1960 - OU is again placed on one year probation (no bowl, no tv) for recruiting violations. 1961-1967 - The AP ranked only the Top 10 during this period. Therefore, UPI rankings are used for rankings outside the Top 10. 1962 - Another fight occurred at the final gun. 1963 - Texas wins its first National Championship, and wins 11 games for the first time in school history. 1965 - After the 1965 season, an effort to hire Texas coach Darrell Royal was initiated by the OU Administration. 1966 - Another post-game riot took place. 1968 - The installation of chair-back seats in the Cotton Bowl reduce seating capacity to its current 72,000. AP now waits until after bowl games to crown its national champion. 1969 - Texas wins its 2nd National Championship. OU's Steve Owens wins the Heisman.
